Community Meals at Grace Lutheran Church serves free meals to those in the community in transition or desiring social interaction. Guests are seated at 5:30, with the meal being served at 6:00 p.m. Several community churches use our facility and share in the responsibility of providing and serving the meals.
"Because of recent Health Department changes, beginning March 2012, Community Meals is no longer collecting plastic containers (yogurt, sour cream, etc.). Thank you for your contributions in the past.
How You Can Help Community Meals
Community meals works with two teams of volunteers who cook and work in the dining room. Unfortunately, those teams are full right now. But there are other ways you can help on Mondays!
Sponsor an Ice Cream Bar: Donate 3 gallons of vanilla ice cream and toppings. We provide the bowls and spoons. We would need 2-3 people to arrive at 5:45 p.m. to set up and stay to serve from 6-6:45 p.m.
Centerpieces or Table Favors: Bring 14 centerpieces or 100 table favors by 4:45 p.m. on the Monday of the meal; each meal has a theme.
Door Prizes: We love doing drawings for door prizes. Prizes could be a $10 gift card to a grocery store, a bag of groceries, a box of chocolates, a bouquet of flowers. We need you to bring the door prizes by 4:45 p.m. on the Monday of the meal.
If you can help please contact Naomi Owen evenings at email@example.com or at 952-432-1842.
Community Meals Memories
Back in the old days of Community Meals . . . way back in 1994, we cautiously started with one meal a month. Those early meals were an act of faith as well as an act of love. Love for others who might be in need, and faith that God would help us bring all the pieces together and pull it off! Now, seventeen years later, it is very gratifying to see that not only did it all come together, but the Community Meals program is still going strong with leadership that has added to and improved the program to make it so much more than it was at the start. God Bless!
